Lessons [Updated 4.06.2026]

  • All Lessons are held in Blanch Music (Excluding, Online Lessons where applicable)

  • Standard Private lessons are on a 1:1 basis, they are 30 minutes long. Longer Lessons can be request (45 Minutes - 60 Minutes) All private classes are held in dedicated lesson rooms.

  • Group classes are designed for 4–6 students and are 45 minutes in duration. In the event a group drops below four participants, class duration may be adjusted to 30 minutes. Where a reduction in duration occurs, a proportional fee adjustment will be applied for the affected lessons. Parents/students will be informed in advance of any change in duration, structure, or fees.

  •  Groups are made up based on the student’s aptitude but we try to place students of like ages and ability into the same classes. Some changes may be made at the teacher’s request.

  • Places can only be held with the payment of a booking deposit

  • If your teacher is unable to give a class/lessons an alternative day or teacher will be arranged.

  • Blanch Music does not open on Bank Holidays, any lessons that are due on a Bank Holiday will not be charged for at the start of the term.

  • If you wish to speak with a teacher regarding progress or any other issue, we ask that you do so at the start of a class as a courtesy to the next student.

  • Exams: Exams are optional, there are a number of options. Please ask in the office or your teacher for details. Exam fees are extra, payable to the examinations board. Accompaniment is required (at the cost of the student) for all exams excluding Guitar, Drums & Piano.

Lesson Prices & Discounts

Lesson Fee’s from September 2026

Standard Lesson Fees:

  • 30 Minute Private Lesson — €29.95

  • 45 Minute Private Lesson — €44.00

  • 2 Person Group Lesson — €19.15

  • 3 Person Group Lesson — €17.35

Monthly Payment Option: Students may pay on a monthly instalment basis at the standard rates above. Monthly payments are due on the same date each month and must be maintained to retain the student's place.

Early Payment Discount: Students who pay their term fees in full within 14 calendar days of the commencement of lessons qualify for a reduced rate:

  • 30 Minute Private Lesson — €27.50

  • 45 Minute Private Lesson — €41.25

  • 2 Person Group Lesson — €17.15

  • 3 Person Group Lesson — €15.35

Family & Multi-Instrument Discount: The following discounts apply to accounts that have paid in full by the early payment deadline. Accounts on the Monthly Payment option do not qualify for these discounts.

  • 2 Family Members or 2 Instruments — 10% (from 2nd member/instrument)

  • 3 or More Family Members or Instruments — 15% (from 2nd member/instrument)

Missed Lessons and Rescheduling Policy

  1. Notice of Absence:

  2. Rescheduling Limitations:

    • Students are entitled to One rescheduled lesson per term, provided a minimum of 48 hours’notice is given. Rescheduling is subject to availability and must occur within the same academic term. Credits not used within the term expire and are not transferrable, unless exceptional circumstances apply (e.g., prolonged illness, family emergency)..

    • Rescheduled lessons will be offer during the term. This will be done via the Student Portal. Make Up Credits Cannot be transferred between Terms or between Academic Years.

  3. Failure to Provide Notice:

    • If a student fails to provide the required 48 hours' notice, the lesson will be forfeited and will not be eligible for rescheduling or make-up credit.

  4. Make-Up Credits:

    • Students are entitled to one Make-Up lesson per term. To qualify, a minimum of 48 hours' notice of absence must be given to the school office. Make-Up lessons are subject to availability and must be taken within the same academic term. Make-Up lessons cannot be transferred between terms or academic years. No refund is issued in lieu of a Make-Up lesson.

  5. Excessive Absences:

    • If a student misses more than two lessons in a term without the required 48 hours' notice, the school will issue a written warning to the student or guardian outlining the concern. If absences continue following this warning, the school reserves the right to review the student's enrolment status and may, at its discretion, terminate enrolment. No enrolment will be terminated without prior written notice.

  6. Exceptions:

    • Exceptions to this policy may be made at the discretion of the school administration in cases of emergency or unforeseen circumstances. Requests for exceptions must be submitted in writing and will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

  7. Communication:

    • All communications regarding missed lessons, rescheduling, and make-up credits must be directed to the office.

Teacher Absence

  1. Notice of Teacher Absence:

    In the event that a teacher is unable to attend a scheduled lesson, the school will make every effort to provide a substitute teacher from within the school.

  2. Rescheduling Lessons:

    If a substitute teacher is not available, the missed lesson will be rescheduled for another date that is convenient for both the student and the teacher. The school/teacher will coordinate with the student to find a suitable time for the rescheduled lesson.

  3. Credit for Missed Lessons:

    If rescheduling is not feasible, the missed lesson will be credited towards the next term or academic year. These credits will be tracked and can be applied to future lessons. In the event Blanch Music must cancel a lesson and no reschedule is possible, students will be issued a credit or full refund for the missed class, as preferred by the student/guardian.

  4. Refunds:

    If the student is not returning for the next term or academic year, and the rescheduled dates do not suit the student's schedule, a refund for the missed lesson will be provided. The school will process the refund in a timely manner. All Refund’s will be processed via Bank Transfer or Payments made via Stripe can be refunded via Stripe.

  5. Communication:

    All communications regarding teacher absences, substitute teachers, rescheduling, credits, and refunds must be directed to the office. The school will keep students informed of any changes as soon as they are known.

  6. Emergency Situations:

    In cases of emergency or unforeseen circumstances leading to a teacher's absence, the school will make every effort to inform students promptly and will follow the above policies to ensure minimal disruption to the student's learning.

Fee’s & Payments

  • A booking deposit of €50 is required to secure a place for lessons, this deposit will be refunded if you cannot be offered any class.

  • Booking deposits are refundable only if Blanch Music cannot offer a suitable class time or instrument option. If a student declines a suitable offering, the deposit becomes non-refundable. A 'suitable' offering is defined as a class time and instrument option available within the Blanch Music timetable at the time of the student's booking. The standard timetable operates Monday to Friday, 1pm–9pm, and Saturday, 10am–6pm. Any available slot within these hours constitutes a suitable offering. If no slot within these hours can be offered, the deposit will be refunded in full.

  • Refund Policy Lesson fees are non-refundable in the event of student-initiated cancellation or absence. Refunds are only applicable in the following circumstances: (a) Blanch Music is unable to offer a suitable class time or instrument option; (b) a teacher absence cannot be rescheduled and no credit can be applied; or (c) a student is not returning for the following term and rescheduled dates are not suitable. All refunds will be processed via bank transfer, or via Stripe where the original payment was made by card, within 14 business days of the request being approved.

  • Deposit Dates are notified before the end of every term by Email & SMS

  • Place are not guaranteed if Deposit’s are not received by the due date sent in notifications

  • Deposits cannot be taken on accounts with an outstanding balance. Any payments made will be taken off current balance and places/times cannot be held.

  • Blanch Music cannot take responsibility for unopened correspondence.

  • Blanch Music accepts cheques (made payable to Blanchardstown School of Music), Cash, Pay Pal or Credit Card.

  • Booking deposits for lessons must be prompt and paid to secure all places (Bookings).

  • Balances are due within 14 calendar days of the commencement of the student's lessons in any given term. Term dates are published on the Blanch Music website and communicated to students and guardians by email and SMS before the start of each term.

  • Payment options are available. Anyone opting for Pre-Paid classes must make final payment by the end of the first month of classes. If you do not make payment you will be moved onto the monthly payment (taken classes will be retroactively charged at surcharge price)

General Terms & Conditions

  • Students deemed to be disruptive to other students, teachers or members of staff will be asked to leave or their guardian will be asked to collect them. Our aim is to have a fun and professional atmosphere in the school.

  • Students who are not returning to the school for the following term must notify the school as soon as possible.

  • Blanch Music cannot be held responsible for any damage, theft or loss of any instruments, equipment or other items.

  • Blanch Music value any input or suggestions, which may help to improve the quality of our service. Please do not hesitate to contact a member of staff or the manager.

  • Blanch Music will not be able to loan students instruments from the shop, please ensure students bring all materials / instruments needed for lessons.

    Data Protection & Privacy

    Blanch Music processes personal data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Data Protection Acts 1988–2018. Data is processed on the lawful basis of contractual necessity (to provide lesson services) and legitimate interest (for school administration and communications).

    We collect and use personal data solely for school-related purposes, including lesson scheduling, progress updates, and payment processing. Payment records are retained for a minimum of 6 years in accordance with Irish Revenue requirements. Student portal data is deleted 180 days following the final lesson.

    You have the right to access, rectify, restrict, or request deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting the school office. Where a student is under 18, these rights may be exercised by a parent or guardian.

  • If you intend to discontinue lessons, please provide at least 14 days’ notice before the end of term. This allows us to deactivate your profile in line with our GDPR policy and offer the slot to another student. This will allow us to deactivate online profiles and delete them in accordance with our GDPR Policy.

Online Lesson Guide Lines & Code of Conduct.

  • 1. Joining the Event:

    • Click the join link in your registration email, or

    2. Audio & Video:

    • Test your audio to ensure you can hear everything.

    • Please leave your microphone muted at all times.

    • You can chose whether you enable or disable video.

    3. RECORDING:

    • Online lessons are recorded for educational purposes. These recordings capture the teacher only — no student video or audio is recorded. Recordings are made available to all enrolled students via the Blanch Music School Hub platform as a library of learning resources. Recordings are accessible to enrolled students and Blanch Music staff only. Blanch Music School Hub platform.

    4. Interaction - Q&A:

    • Ask questions or send messages via the chat. Answers will be provided in a follow-up email and/or at the start of the next lesson.

    5. Code Of Conduct:

    Respectful Communication:

    • The chat is for asking questions only. No discussions or criticism. Allow all participants to express themselves.

    Intellectual Property:

    • Respect copyright laws. No copying or sharing of any content from this course.

    Confidentiality & Security:

    • Protect personal and course-related information, and follow the school guidelines, terms & conditions and policies. Respect children.

    Prohibited Behaviours:

    • Refrain from any harassment, discrimination based on any criteria (race, gender, etc.).

    • Avoid saying anything that makes others uncomfortable or is personal.

    The school reserves the right to dismiss any participant from the course for conduct that violates established rules, policies, or standards of behavior.
