While his formal education and professional focus is in jazz and contemporary music, his formative years were spent immersed in heavier rock and punk music, giving him versatility across musical styles. He actively performs with his noise rock band and various improvised music groups, bringing current industry experience directly to his teaching.

With a performance career spanning 10 years, Max has achieved notable recognition in the music industry. In 2023, his band was shortlisted for the prestigious Glastonbury Emerging Talent competition, selected from over 20,000 applicants to reach the final stages of judging. This real-world performance experience enriches his teaching approach, ensuring students develop practical skills relevant to today's music scene. Since February 2023, Max has been teaching in music schools across Dublin, in addition to his 7 years of private instruction.
